Retro Kitchen Storage
You can make your own 1950’s style metal storage tins quickly, cheaply and easily using plain tins and retro ice-cream shades of spray paint. These tins are just too pretty to put away in the cupboard.
Step by Step Guide
- Wash your tins thoroughly and allow to dry.
Lay out newspaper in a well-ventilated working area. - Use masking tape and newspaper to shield the inside of the container.
- Spray with one or two coats of Plasti-kote Super Satin Cameo Pink or Porcelain. Two thin, even coats will give a better finish.
Whilst the paint is still tacky, remove the masking tape. Once the paint is completely dry apply adhesive letters to label each tin. - Spray the tins with a finishing coat of Clear Acrylic for extra protection.
