A Remedy for a Bland Kitchen

Herbal Remedy

Thyme, Basil, Coriander, Oregano, we all love fresh herbs, especially when they’re grown in your garden. Create your own personalized terracotta herb pots by following this project card. They also make great gifts for the cook or indoor gardener in your life.

All you need are some Terracotta pots, some Plasti-kote spray paint and our simple step-bystep guide. Why not experiment with some of your own designs or try using metal pails instead of terracotta pots.

Step by Step Guide

  1. Get down to your local garden centre to buy your Terracotta pots or have a look through your shed. If you are using some old pots give them a good clean and allow to dry prior to spraying.
  2. Start by masking off the rims of the pot as this area will be left unsprayed. Lay down newspaper to protect the surrounding area.
  3. Take the Blackboard paint and spray to cover the unmasked area, leave for 15 minutes and then apply a second coat.
  4. Leave to dry thoroughly for at least 30 minutes. Whilst waiting take the pencil and practice writing the names of your herbs on a scrap piece of paper.
  5. Once the Blackboard paint is dry, write the names of the herbs on each pot using the pencil. If you make a mistake simply rub it off using a damp cloth. When you are happy with the penciled text simply write over the top with either the chalk or for permanent lettering make templates for the herb names and use Super Enamel Flat White.
  6. If you use the Super Enamel Flat White you will need to leave for approximately 45 minutes. You can now remove the masking tape and get plotting!

You will need
